The
smallest state of India, Goa is located on the Western coast of the
Indian peninsula. The location of Goa is such that it shares its borders
with Maharashtra towards the north and Karnataka in the south. The
mighty Arabian Sea lies to its west. The geographical location of Goa is
between 15°48'00" North to 14°53'54" North Latitude
and 74° 20'13" East to 73° 40'33" East Longitudes.

makes it the perfect locale for a vacation.
The location of Goa near the sea was favorable for the Portuguese to
set up one of the most prosperous trade links in Asia. Goa was known for
its spice plantations and exotic spices. This was exported by the
Portuguese to countries in north and South East Asia. Also, Goa had a
natural harbor which made it all the more easy for the ships to dock
here. One can still see the harbor located in Goa though mostly in
ruins.
The location of Goa is such that the Western Ghats flank it along the
coast. The Western Ghats are the perfect location for the wildlife
sanctuaries and provide the perfect getaway for nature enthusiasts to
spend time with nature. The beaches are the most popular getaway for
tourists and the water sports provided here are a hit among locals and
tourists. The ideal location of Goa also makes it possible to reach this
state easily.
